Classmates,
Charlie Love sent a note to tell us his 1/C-year roommate, Jim Schlagheck (21st Co.), passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2026, of an apparent heart attack at his home in Colorado Springs. Jim was a member of 21st company and served as an H-46 pilot before retiring from the Navy when he was stationed at the Air Force Academy. Jim then became a civilian instructor at USAFA for many years until his retirement.
His family will not have a service, but there will be a private viewing and cremation next week with Jim’s kids and their wives. We will let you know if we hear about any other memorial services.
Please keep Jim’s wife, Clauda, and their children in your thoughts and prayers.
