Greg Smith (29th Co.) diagnosed with grade 4 glioblastoma brain cancer

From Vince Balderrama (11th Co.):

I received word from Pilar Carpenter, our late classmate Jack Carpenter’s (29th Co) sister, that a fellow classmate, non-grad, Greg Smith [Gregory W. Smith] of 29th Company, was diagnosed with grade 4 glioblastoma brain cancer. They suspect that the tumor had been fast-growing for about two months.Greg sees his surgeons tomorrow, January 4, and will undergo surgery on Wednesday, January 5. I am sure positive prayers, good thoughts and best wishes from Classmates and friends- before surgery, and in his recovery, – will help immensely.

Greg’s daughter has set up a Caring Bridge site (https://www.caringbridge.org/visit/gregsmith42?utm_source=DAS%20Summary&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=DAS%20Summary%20email&utm_content=Visit%20the%20site%20to%20view%20all%20the%20activity&fbclid=IwAR1cMNOy-l0S-_92wKXL1zul7S9VEXuRIGf04g6La3guPrsT8nvjDNtkaEwand) she encourages you to post your words of support.

Greg also has a Facebook page (https://www.facebook.com/gregs.libby)

Our Class has always rallied around a classmate and classmate’s family in time of need. In doing so, we have on occasion shown the amazing power of love, prayer, and comradery to make “miracles” happen. Let’s do it again.

Semper Fi,

Vince
