USNA Class of ’78 Cruise

Classmates,

How would you like to go on a cruise with your classmates?  No, this is not your next deployment to the I.O., and it is not a sales call from RCI vacations, but it is an idea that our classmate, Bill Burke, has offered to support.  Bill is the Chief Maritime Officer for Carnival Corporation and PLC, and we have been talking about putting together a Class of ’78 cruise to the Caribbean.  If there is interest from our Class, Bill will help arrange the cruise and let us know what discounted pricing Carnival will offer us.

In my discussions with Bill, we determined that a Caribbean cruise in February or March of 2020 would provide us ample time to plan and book reservations.  That time of year is warm in the Caribbean but not too hot!  Bill also recommended that we look at the Holland America cruise line as their ships tend to host folks in our age group.

We propose that we depart from Fort Lauderdale in February 2020 and are looking at a 7-day cruise that goes to Cuba.  (For those that might be concerned about possible conflicts, Ash Wednesday is on February 26 and Easter is on April 12 in 2020.  There are two cruises that leave before Ash Wednesday.)  The itinerary includes stops in Havana and Cienfuegos, Cuba, Ocho Rios, Jamaica, and Georgetown, Cayman Islands.

If you are interested please go to this link at Survey Monkey and answer our Class Cruise Survey questionnaire:

https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/KQNN95K

It will take about two minutes and provide us with information on who might be interested.

You can also find the Class Cruise Survey on our Class website at www.usna1978.org under the “Links/Class of 1978/Class Cruise Survey” tabs.  We will also post this information on our Class Facebook page.

Thanks and Happy Holidays!

Fair winds…
