Classmates,
I just got back from 3 great days in Annapolis following ‘28 through their Sea Trials and their Herndon climb. It was 3 long, tough days in heavy wind and rain for our Mids, but it was very impressive to see all the teamwork and individual effort it took to complete their mission. Everything I saw gives be great confidence that our Naval Academy leadership is doing all the right things to create the warriors our Navy and Marine Corps need to fight and defend our great Nation.
I want to give a shout out and a big “BZ” to Joe Stanik for organizing ‘78’s participation in both of these events, and again to Vince Balderrama for leading us through everything ALITC. You will hear more about upcoming ALITC events soon. If you are able, join us for future events; these young Midshipmen will definitely impress you, too.
Regarding the Great Class Challenge, let me share a note Jim Pointer, 36th CO Rep, sent to his brothers in 36:
“78-36ers, you did it! 78 came from behind to win the Bronze for third place in the number of donors (342), and fourth in the percentage (40%). We way outpaced the average class that had about 10.76% participation. Our former Plebes from 81 finished right behind us in the number of donors (4th at 253), so we must have trained them right. Meanwhile our former Firsties from 75 finished right behind us in the percentage of donors (5th at 31%). So, I guess they will want to claim credit for training us right. Either way, Bravo Zulu 78! Jim Pointer”
Thank you, Jim. I could not say it any better. And thank you to all that participated.
Have a great summer!
Fair winds…
