From the President – 3 items of Interest

Classmates,

Three items of interest to share with you.

First, congratulations to Mark Ferguson (7th CO) who has been selected to served as the Chair of our Alumni Association Board of Trustees. Mark will relieve Sam Locklear ‘77, the Board’s current chair, at the conclusion of the May 14 Board meeting. You can read the full announcement on the Association’s March/April 2021 e-newsletter, Wavetops, at www.usna.com/wavetops.

Another item in the March/April 2021 Wavetops e-newsletter is a request that alumni complete the USNA Alumni Association 2021 USNA Alumni Member Survey.   Here is our Association’s message: “Your voice is critical to our strategic planning, and the more alumni we hear from, the better that plan will reflect our values. This comprehensive survey is the direct result of the work of the U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association Board of Trustees Action Committee on Alumni Culture, Diversity and Inclusion and its predecessor Special Committee. Please take the time to fill it out and submit by 23 April, and help us build an even stronger and more inclusive Alumni Association. Additional information is available on the Action Committee webpage.”  The Action Committee webpage provides details on this committee’s work. Check it out. Additionally,  you should have received an email from SimpsonScarborough requesting you to take the survey.  If you have not seen the email, please check your “junk” email folder.  I have taken the survey and encourage you to take it so your voice is counted.

Finally, if you are looking for a COVID-19 vaccination and you are having difficulty finding one, you may be eligible to receive one from the Veterans Administration.  Here is a link where you can learn more about this program: https://www.va.gov/health-care/covid-19-vaccine/

Fair winds…
