Class of 1978 Class Gift Update

Classmates,

I hope you all had a great Thanksgiving.

As the year-end rapidly approaches, many of us are thinking about making donations that will count against our CY2021 taxes. With that in mind, and considering tomorrow, November 30, is Giving Tuesday, now is a great time to support our 50th Class Gift, become a plankowner of our new Naval Academy Alumni Association and Foundation Center currently under construction, and take a tax write-off.

Below is an update on our 50th Class Gift, but first, I want to say thank you to all that have donated or made a pledge to support this project. Our class has always been very generous in supporting our Academy’s admissions programs, athletic programs, and ethics and leadership center, and now we have a chance to support creating a multi-purpose alumni center of which all alumni will be proud.

So far ‘78 has contributed nearly $455,000 of our $750,000 pledge through the donations and pledges from 125 donors, 29 of whom are plankowners. A plankowner is anyone committing $12,500 or more to the project either as a one time donation or pledging $2,500 per year for five years. Plankowners also become members of the President’s Circle. So, if you are in the President’s Circle then why not become a plankowner?

For interested classmates, please consider becoming an Alumni Center plankowner and taking this year’s tax write-off.  If you want more information about becoming a plankowner, go to https://www.usna.com/support/plankowner , or if you are ready to make your pledge now, go to www.usna.com/give/1978.

I would be glad to speak with any of you about the Alumni Center or making a pledge or you can contact Dan Quattrini ‘81, Director of Class Giving, for further information or help making your pledge at dan.quattrini@usna.com

Beat Army!

Fair winds…
