Go-To Guide for Navy Football

It doesn’t get much more thrilling than this! Fall brings a packed house at the Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium, a stream of midshipmen marching in parade formation to the game, spirited tailgates filling the lots, “Go Navy! Beat Army!” cheers everywhere, the Navy Spirit Team creating an electric atmosphere, the sounds of “Anchors Aweigh” rising everywhere and Blue Angel rumbling jumpstarting the game. USNA sports are always charged, and a Navy home football game is one of the most exciting experiences around.

We can’t wait to welcome USNA football back to the gridiron. This year, the Naval Academy team is poised for an especially great season, after a solid victory in the Army-Navy Football Game in 2021 and a challenging schedule that showcased their strength. The fall promises to bring excellent action, with this lineup below. Get ready to cheer on your Navy Football team!:

A Year in Review
Want to know what the Naval Academy is building on this year? Last year, they finished the season with a 4-8 record. That included a 17-13 win over Army on December 11, 2021 with 82,282 in the crowd at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey. This fierce rivalry win counts for everything. Check out the 2021 Navy Highlight Video for the complete action. It was the cap to a hard but good season, where Navy faced 11 bowl-bound teams, the most in the country. While the record does not reflect these challenges, the final win over Army made the season a great one.

Football and Fall in Annapolis
It’s going to be another great season. This town knows how to do football, and it’s the hottest ticket in Annapolis come fall. While you’re here, make it a Navy weekend! Come visit the Yard, where the midshipmen train hard every day to defend our country, and the football team takes it to another level to defend their reputation.

Take a Tour
There are fascinating tours that can take you through the beautiful walkways and awe-inspiring architecture, as well as through the history of the U.S. Navy, U.S. Marine Corps and U.S. Naval Academy. Choose from a variety of tours to satisfy your curiosity, from the Anchors Aweigh Music Tour that walks you through the intriguing history of bandstand leader Charles Zimmerman while exploring USNA’s musical history — to the historical walking tour that gives you a taste of midshipmen life.

Try the Food
Speaking of taste, while you’re here, be sure to try the local hangouts of the Brigade, the restaurants that give you the inside track at the Naval Academy. For a more formal experience with lots of Annapolis flair, head to The Alley at the Naval Academy Club. There are also snacks and delicious beverages at the two 1845 Coffee locations. Wherever you go on the Yard, you’re supporting the Brigade. Profits from the tours, visits, dining and shopping goes right back to the midshipmen.

Take a Shopping Spin
Shopping is a great way to give back. On a Navy football day, you can find the USNA Gift Shop just inside the main gate at USNA prior to the big game! Gear up before the game with Navy exclusive t-shirts, sweatshirts, footballs, tailgate supplies and plenty of Go Navy! Beat Army! spirit wear. Here are some of our top fall sports picks. The Naval Academy Gift Shop at the Visitor Center has these and more. While you’re here, check out the USNA MidStore hours and see their wares. If you want to ship something home, they can help you do that, or you can hop on Navyonline to send it from there. It’s always fun to have USNA gear for football season.

A Treat for Naval Academy VisitorsWe’re looking forward to seeing the midshipmen come out strong this year. There’s nothing quite like a Naval Academy football game. Come for a visit and see for yourself. We’ve put together a great guide for your stay. Go Navy! Beat Army! It’s time to kickoff!
