BETHESDA, Md. ” Bart was born in Havre de Grace, Md., and lived many places during his life. He spent several years during his childhood in Woodbury where he enjoyed being close to family. Woodbury had always been a special place, his hometown, a place of family roots.

A U.S. Navy veteran, Bart graduated from Annapolis in 1978 and began his career in the nuclear industry by serving in nuclear submarines. Bart led the first license renewal for a nuclear power plant when he was at Calvert Cliffs Nuclear Power Plant and then went on to be a leader at Constellation Nuclear Services.

After battling cancer, Bart changed occupations and moved into the health field; he became a driving force in developing a fully computerized medical practice with his wife, Dr. Catherine Picken, in the Washington, D.C., area. He was recognized for his accomplishments by participating in a conference sponsored by President George Bush and was invited to travel in Air Force One. Most recently, Bart founded a nonprofit company to assist in the development of awareness for late deafened adults and to provide assistance to returning veterans who had become deaf due to IEDs.

He is survived by his wife, Catherine Picken of Bethesda, Md.; his daughters, Megan and Rebecca Doroshuk, also of Maryland; his mother, Nancy Bennington of Woodbury, most recently of Portland, Maine; a sister, Lisa (Doroshuk) Creighton and her husband, Jack Creighton, of Cohasset, Mass.; a brother, Christopher Taylor of Bethlehem; his aunt, Judith Plummer of Woodbury, most recently of Westbrook, Maine; and his cousins, Dale Plummer of Norwich, John Plummer of Waterbury, Dana Plummer of Maine, “Charlie” Hinkley of Seattle, Wash., Alex Elizabeth Taylor and Zoo Cain, both of South Portland, Maine, and Lucy Littlejohn of Carmen, Idaho.
