Week of Gratitude 2021: A Message from Dan Akerson ’70

Dear Alumni, Parents and Friends:As we conclude the Week of Gratitude, let me add my sincere thanks to all who have established and maintained a Margin of Excellence at the Academy with your generous support.I have had the honor of co-chairing both the first Naval Academy campaign and our current effort, Called to Serve, Daring to Lead. Since we started raising money in 2000, alumni, parents and friends of the Naval Academy have created a culture of philanthropy that has provided more than $910 million to further the Academy’s mission of developing midshipmen morally, mentally and physically. In many cases, your support has enabled initiatives across the curriculum that would not have been possible otherwise.Your generosity continues to make immediate, tangible and significant contributions to the Academy’s ability to graduate and commission junior officers ready to assume the awesome responsibility of leading sailors and Marines in service to our country. Your support takes a good education and makes it great. We, and the Academy, simply could not accomplish our missions without you. Please accept our deepest gratitude, and Go Navy!Sincerely,Dan Akerson ’70
