Update on Dennis Otoshi in Ukraine

Classmates,

Greg Baur (33rd CO) forwarded to me a note and some photos from Dennis Otoshi (33rd CO) who is still serving in the Red Cross in Ukraine, and asked me to share them with you. Greg also created a GoFundMe page to provide humanitarian support through Dennis’ recommended charity, Nova Ukraine. His goal has been $35,000, but, so far, only a little over $13,000 has been raised. If this is something you support, please go to this link and make a donation.

From Dennis Otoshi:

“In Independence Square of Kyiv lies a flag covered lawn that bears witness to those who gave their lives for the sake of freedom. Amongst the Ukrainian flags lie American flags that are a memorial to the Americans who came to Ukraine and paid the ultimate sacrifice to help a neighbor in need.

On this 247th birthday of the United States, we remember the foreign nationals who came to America during our War of Independence; Lafayette, Pulaski, von Steuben, Kosciuszko , de Kalb, de Gálvez, and many others. Now it is our turn to return the favor.

This is Ukraine’s greatest generation. I am proud and honored to be part of this struggle and I represent all of you, my brothers who graduated with me in 1978 from the United States Naval Academy.

Respectfully,

Dennis Otoshi

Ukrainian Red Cross”

Wishing you all a great July 4th!

Fair winds…
