U.S. Naval Academy Alumni Association & Foundation

Classmates,

The Alumni Association is making a dedicated effort to validate and confirm the contact information of all graduates by hiring a company, Publishing Concepts or PCI, to help the Association gather this information. If you receive an email from PCI, it is a legitimate request to update your contact information. If you choose to participate but would feel more comfortable initiating action yourself, go to https://www.usna.com/updateprofile and update your information. Also, be aware that this company will be offering you an opportunity to purchase a “Register of Graduates” a yearbook of sorts with a history of the Naval Academy and the Alumni Association & Foundation in the front of the Register and a complete listing of graduates of USNA since 1845.  There is no obligation to purchase this product. The main goal is confirm or update valid contact information for all graduates.

Here is a message from the Association’s Exec. Director of Communications to further explain the request:

Class leaders,

Welcome to 2024. The Naval Academy Alumni Association and Foundation is making a very dedicated effort this year to validate and confirm the contact information of our graduates. The focus of this effort is not for fundraising, but rather to ensure a better connection with you and your classmates.

Every year, we lose thousands of dollars because of returned Shipmates that arrive at old addresses and get returned. Similarly, many of our email updates and pieces of news fall on deaf ears via email because of invalid email addresses.

Acknowledging these facts and making a concerted effort to engage with you more effectively, we have signed an agreement with a company called PCI to help us conduct a data and contact verification project. An ancillary benefit of this project will be an offer to purchase a “Register of Graduates.”

PCI will be sending mailed and emailed postcards to all alumni based on the information in our CRM asking you to confirm your contact information and to offer you an opportunity to purchase the Register.

The last time we did this was 2013. The effort resulted in improved validation of contact information and a very nice keepsake for our graduates…a yearbook of sorts with a history of the Naval Academy and the Alumni Association & Foundation in the front of the Register and complete listing of graduates of USNA since 1845.  There is no obligation to purchase this product. The very most important thing is that we get accurate contact information for as many graduates as possible. We will be posting information about this effort on usna.com and myUSNA, and we will also provide updates via social media, Wavetops and in the Jan/Feb printed issue of Shipmate.

If you can, please inform your classes of this effort as the receipt of these mailed and emailed postcards from PCI is often misinterpreted as a scam.  You can also assist us by emailing your classes and simply asking them to visit https://www.usna.com/updateprofile to ensure their profile and contact information are correct.

If there are any questions or concerns, please let your classmates know they can contact John Schofield at john.schofield@usna.com or Sandy Spadaro at sandy.spadaro@usna.com.

Thank you.
