Dear Classmates, brothers and family,
It’s been a sad week with notice of the passing of another ’78 brother, and fellow Marine, Stefan Fedyschyn. He passed away on 21 July after a long battle with cancer. Stef joins the many of our brothers, spouses and children who have gone before us, and he has reported to our heavenly “advanced party”.
Stefan was one of our smart Marines, He earned a master’s degree in electrical engineering and then completed his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering at Lehigh University, where his research focused on parallel computing and advanced computer engineering. He’d been an instructor at the Naval Academy. Post-active duty he had a distinguished career with the FBI as a Computer Engineer where he applied his expertise to support critical national security and law enforcement missions.
Stefan embodied the values of honor, courage, and commitment that would define the rest of his life. He was a humble man of great integrity and unwavering patriotism. He never sought the spotlight, but his character naturally earned the respect of those around him. He made every interaction with someone a meaningful event. He was a great friend to others and a dedicated Navy fan.
Stefan is survived by his two brothers, Gary and Chris (’81), his sister Lisa, and six nieces and nephews.

Stef’s motorcycle club and his family have scheduled a Celebration of Life for Stef. The event will take place at the Crownsville American Legion, 1905 Crownsville RD, Annapolis, on the 16th of August at 1200.
Please keep Stef and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Honor him by remembering the good times and celebrate having had him in our lives. As we Marines often say when we think of one day being reunited with our deceased, “Until Valhalla.”
