Naval Academy alumni, parents, friends and supporters: News broke Friday that VADM Davids was being re-nominated to a different three star position at the Pentagon, and that for the first time a Marine General would be nominated to be Superintendent.
Vice Admiral Yvette Davids has been re-nominated to serve as the Deputy Chief of Naval Operations for Operations, Plans, Strategy, and Warfighting Development (N3/N5/N7). Pending the confirmation of her successor, she will turn over command of the Naval Academy.
Her nominated relief, Lt Gen Michael Borgschulte ’91, USMC, would—if confirmed—become the first Marine to serve as Superintendent in the Academy’s 180-year history. He is a 1991 graduate of the Naval Academy and is currently serving as the Deputy Commandant of the Marine Corps for Manpower and Reserve Affairs.
We don’t yet know the timing of the transition, but it could be very soon. As always, our team stands ready to support USNA leadership as active partners through this transition.
Vice Admiral Davids has provided steady leadership and a deep commitment to her alma mater. I’ve appreciated the opportunity to build a strong working and personal relationship with her, and I want to recognize the support, dedication, and friendship she offered the Alumni Association & Foundation and the Naval Academy community during her tour.
Over her thirty-six years of service, she and her husband Rear Admiral Keith Davids ’90, USN (ret) have answered every call the Navy has made of them. VADM Davids will continue to represent the Naval Academy and the U.S. Navy with distinction just down the road at the Pentagon. We congratulate her and wish her well in her new role.
Warm regards,
Jeff
