Passing of Glen Shipman (8th Co)

Classmates, friends, and family,

As your class scribe, it is with a heavy heart that I once again inform you of the passing of another one of our ’78 brothers, Glen Shipman (8th Co).  Glen died in hospice early Sunday morning, May 8th, of coronary failure. His family speculates it was likely the result of numerous health issues and illnesses he had endured over the years.

Glen is survived by his adult daughters, Jessica and Lisa, his grandsons, Elliot and “Xander” (Alexander); his sister, Lynn, and former wife, Cindy Mahr. Please remember them in your prayers.

Glen will always be remembered for his big smile, athleticism, and amazing talent with a piano. He could really play those 88 keys. Those memories and music will remain always for us who knew Glen.

A Memorial Service is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. this Sunday, May 15th, at Clynmalira United Methodist Church, 2920 Stockton Road, Phoenix, MD. The family requests you not send flowers due to family allergies. Masks are optional but as some indviduals in attendance may be high risk for Covid, the family recommends their use.

An inurnment at the U.S. Naval Academy Columbarium is in planning.  More information will be provided as that becomes firm.

Fond memories and expressions of sympathy may be shared on the funeral home’s website:   https://www.dignitymemorial.com/obituaries/elkridge-md/glen-shipman-10743405

Please keep Glen and his family in your thoughts and prayers. Try to remember all the good, fun, and happy memories you have of Glen. He would have wanted you to celebrate his life and not mourn his death.
