General George C. Marshall once proclaimed: “The soldier’s heart, the soldier’s spirit, the soldier’s soul are everything. Unless the soldier’s spirit sustains him, he cannot be relied upon and he will fail himself, his commander, and his country in the end . . . It is the spirit that wins the victory.”
The same could be said for any of us. With this in mind, it is with pleasure that we announce the ’78 Reunion Prayer Breakfast will be held Saturday morning of our Reunion Weekend. The Breakfast will feed our spirits as classmates Andy Funke (34th Co.; medical doctor, commissioned in and retired from U.S. Public Health Service and currently in a rural private practice, who recently lost his wife of 37 years) and VADM Mark Fox (18th Co.; retired Deputy Centcom Commander, known for his Iraq War MIG kill, who served 38 years on active duty) recall some of the great things God has done in their lives since we became classmates 44 years ago — even in the midst of the most difficult times like the loss of a wife.
You can sign up for the Breakfast when you sign up for the Reunion, by going to www.usna.com, then “Stay Connected,” then “Find My Class,” then “1978,” then “Click here to register,” then enter your user name and password, then when it takes you to the registration page go all the way to the bottom and click on “Click Here to Register,” then as you work through the registration page, when you get to “Events” look for “Prayer Breakfast” and sign up. If you’ve already signed up for the Reunion but didn’t originally include the Prayer Breakfast, you can do so by returning to the Registration page as explained above, and then simply select the Breakfast as one of your activities. And just a reminder that wives and other guests are warmly invited!
