This is your Warning Order for our 40th Class Reunion. We are scheduled for the long weekend of Thursday, September 13, 2018, through Sunday, September 16, 2018, with our headquarters set at the Annapolis Westin Hotel on West Street. The Westin has established a personalized web site for our 40th Reunion, and you can access the site to book, modify, or cancel a reservation from August 15, 2017 to September 18, 2018. The rate is $279 per night, plus taxes, with a two night minimum required for the rate. They’ll charge the first night for a deposit at time of booking and the reservation can be cancelled until 30 days in advance of arrival for a full refund. Planning is still in its early phases and our reunion committee will pass the word when they have an update. We do know that we have the banquet room for the tailgate and likely will have a function at the Westin on Friday night. Other activities such as golf, p-rade, memorial service, class meeting, and chapel services will be announced at a later date.
Here is an alert – there currently is no football game scheduled on Saturday, September 15. The game originally scheduled was moved to late August. Most of the other reunions have moved to that date, but we felt that date would be hot and would interfere with many folks’ end-of-summer plans. We have requested NAAA work with the AAC to move a game into the September 15 slot, preferably at home, but an away game would allow us to watch on big screens in the banquet room and maybe on the stadium screens outside. Since Navy is playing Hawaii in the Aloha state on September 1, we hope NAAA will strive for a bye-week on September 8 and set up the 15th for a game. There are no other home games scheduled at this time, so we will work with NAAA to help us pull this off. The up-side will be an Annapolis with fewer reunions and, therefore, more availability for us. We likely will not know our fate until the 2018 football schedule is set early next year.
We are working with our Company Reps to pass the word. If you have not heard from yours lately, reach out to him and update your contact information. If you don’t know who is your company rep, then go to our class website, www.usna1978.org, find your rep, and then fill out a Form 2 and send it to him! If you need the password to the our website, use the last name of our ‘Dant all lower case…then fill out another Form 2 and send to your Company Rep! While on our class website, please ensure your contact information is current there, too. If you are receiving this email directly then your contact information is current with the Alumni Association; however, if it was forwarded to you then your contact information isn’t current with the Alumni Association and needs to be updated. Please help your company rep, the class officers and the reunion committee by ensuring your contact info is current in those three places. Thanks for your help.
